Niceville is located just to the east of Eglin and offers a variety of neighborhoods to include the planned community of Bluewater Bay. The greater Fort Walton Beach area includes Shalimar and Mary Esther and is located between Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field. Fort Walton, as it is locally known, is surrounded by the bases on two sides; the Choctawhatchee Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Many defense contractors and active military that work at Hurlburt Field live in the Navarre area west of Hurlburt Field. Navarre and its beaches offer miles of undisturbed coastline and a lot of natural beauty. Where ever you choose to live along the Emerald Coast, the harbor town of Destin, the golf communities of South Walton, the Eglin AFB communities of Crestview, Niceville or Ft.
